Art and Life

I was mesmerized by the video installation by Miguel Angel Rios, which I saw last month in Paris. It involves a large number of black and white spinning tops. The random interaction between the spinning tops is choreographed to insinuate the struggle for power in society. It’s suppose to be a metaphor for the battle for social supremacy.

I really appreciate how art helps us understand life by tapping our feelings, emotions and spirit versus only relying on our analytical brain. For me, these spinning tops are the reminder of the fast-paced, super-high-speed of change in society these days – and how we as humans try to navigate our way through, maintain our balance and interact respectfully (or not) with each other.
